FPU Partners with F3 to Launch Ag Leadership Certificate

April 9, 2026

By Michael Hammond

Central Valley residents can now pursue leadership development in agriculture through a brand-new Ag Leadership Certificate offered at 香蕉视频官网.

The program is being offered through FPU鈥檚 Continuing Education department in association with the F3 (Farms Food Future) Initiative.

The non-credit program offers an opportunity to earn a professional certificate, build valuable connections with leaders in ag and gain industry knowledge. The seven-week program will be held at FPU on Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. beginning August 21, 2026, through October 2, 2026. An all-expenses-paid trip to the state capital will take place on August 28.

"This is a historic partnership between 香蕉视频官网 and F3,鈥 said Linda Thomas Matoian, Ed.D., executive director of Continuing Education. 鈥淎g is a vital part of the Central Valley, and this unique certificate will benefit not only those who receive it, but their communities as well.鈥

The F3 Initiative includes an AgTEC program that builds a skilled workforce pipeline and prepares farmworkers for future careers through an Ag Systems Certificate offered at local community colleges. FPU鈥檚 new Ag Leadership Certificate is a complementary next step for students and individuals looking to build on their skills and pursue careers in agriculture.

鈥淟ocal students and ag workers, like those in our AgTEC program, deserve meaningful pathways to expand their knowledge and step into leadership roles that shape the future of agriculture,鈥 said Karen Aceves, AgTEC regional director and founder of ARKEN Strategies. 鈥淥pportunities like this Ag Leadership Certificate can help the next generation learn from industry leaders, understand how policy decisions are made, build connections and ultimately take their seat at the table to lead with confidence.鈥

Participants are scheduled to hear from several prominent guest speakers, such as:

  • Connie Conway, executive director of Farm Service Agency
  • Richard Matoian, former president of American Pistachio Growers
  • Manuel Cunha, Nisei Farmers League
  • Karen Munson, Gar Tootelian Inc
  • Ryan Jacobsen, 香蕉视频官网 County Farm Bureau
  • Ken Melban, CA Avocado Commission

The cohort includes space for 49 participants. The cost for the program is $340 per participant, with scholarship opportunities available for 25 current college students. Spots are limited and those interested are encouraged to sign up soon.
